Construction Begins on Waste Recovery Facility in Djerba, Tunisia
NATURAL GASBIOFUELS
Construction has begun on a waste recovery facility in Djerba, Tunisia, designed to convert household waste into electricity. The pilot unit will process 6,000 tonnes of organic waste annually, reducing CO2 emissions by 5,600 tonnes and generating nearly 1,600 megawatt-hours of electricity, sufficient for 250 households. This initiative is a collaboration between the National Agency for Energy Conservation, the National Waste Management Agency, and UNDP Tunisia, leveraging local expertise.
