Cornell University Advances Underwater 3D Concrete Printing for DARPA Project

DEFENSE

Cornell University is making strides in underwater 3D concrete printing for a DARPA project, having received a $1.4 million grant to develop seafloor sediment-based concrete. A successful demonstration in September showcased sediment levels meeting project requirements, with a final demonstration planned for March to test the viability of printing an underwater arch. Concurrently, RTX Corporation's Raytheon unit has secured a DARPA contract to enhance ship defense through a tethered drone system that integrates electro-optical sensors and command tools.
