CPC Corporation Taiwan has commenced electricity generation at the 5.4-MW Tuchang geothermal power plant in Yilan County. This plant is Taiwan's first geothermal facility with over 5 MW capacity, following development that began in 2020.

The project faced significant challenges, including land acquisition issues and damage from natural disasters. Trial operations started on December 21, 2025, and official generation began on January 31, 2026. CPC aims to address geothermal growth bottlenecks and continue exploration in other regions.
