The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) showcased a broadband underwater communication system to Armscor, achieving data rates over 240 kbps for the South African Navy. This system, utilizing multiple-input multiple-output technology, enables fast acoustic data transfer up to 500 meters and supports autonomous underwater vehicles with live video streaming. Additionally, the CSIR enhanced the Navy's capabilities by installing a sonar demonstrator in a new towfish, providing high-resolution acoustic imaging with near-real-time processing.
