Daejeon City Council Supports Ansan Defense Industrial Complex Development
Daejeon City Council Chairman Cho Won-hui announced support for the Ansan Defense Industrial Complex during a resident briefing on December 16. The project aims to strengthen regional industrial competitiveness by consolidating defense and high-tech industries, covering 480,000 pyeong (approximately 1.58 million square meters) with a total cost of about KRW 1.4 trillion.
Cho stated the importance of moving beyond discussions of 'possibilities' to 'how to properly push this forward.' He highlighted that once delayed administrative procedures are normalized, compensation and construction will accelerate.
The city council is set to review the Urban Development Corporation's equity participation and announce the lifting of the development restriction zone by March or April 2026. Full-scale construction is expected to commence after the industrial complex plan approval process concludes in June or July 2026. The council will ensure resident rights are protected throughout the process.
