Daejeon Metropolitan City has signed a memorandum of understanding with Hannam University, TTA, KT, BKB Energy, and MRODefense to establish a 'High-Performance AI GPU Hub' and 'AX Cluster' by 2028. The hub will be built on a 7,457㎡ site within the Urban High-Tech Industrial Complex on Hannam University's campus.

This initiative aims to create high-performance GPU infrastructure essential for AI model training and data processing, which is often financially challenging for individual entities. The facility will include a 'GPU Control Tower' for operational optimization and performance verification, as well as energy-efficient designs to minimize power demands. The collaboration seeks to foster an ecosystem connecting education and industry, with expectations for economic benefits including the growth of AI startups and the acceleration of AI transformation in local industries.
