HYDRO POWER
Derby Council has approved £100,000 for repairs to the Longbridge Weir Hydro Power House, which is at risk of structural failure due to silt buildup from a recent flood. The hydroelectric plant, operational for 14 years, provides energy for the Council House, covering 29% of its energy needs and generating income through a government grant. Repairs will be conducted by the original contractor, Derwent Hydroelectric Power Ltd.
