Digantara Secures $50 Million to Expand Missile Defense Operations

DEFENSE

Indian space surveillance startup Digantara has raised $50 million in Series B funding to expand into missile tracking, responding to rising government demand for space-based defense solutions. Investors include 360 ONE Asset and SBI Investments from Japan.

Founded in 2020, Digantara initially focused on tracking orbital debris with ground-based sensors and has launched its first spacecraft for space-based tracking. The company aims to develop a prototype missile-tracking satellite within the next 18 months, with a launch planned for late 2027.

It has secured contracts with U.S. Space Command and is part of the Missile Defense Agency's SHIELD program. Digantara plans to launch 15 additional satellites for space situational awareness between 2026 and 2027, expanding its workforce from 120 to 250 employees in India and from 5 to 20 in the U.S. over the next three quarters.
