DOD and U.S. Forest Service Partner for Wildfire Prevention near Colorado Military Bases

The U.S. Forest Service and the Department of Defense are launching a 10-year, $7.3 million initiative to reduce wildfire risks near the Air Force Academy and Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station by treating 2,000 acres. The project will focus on removing unhealthy trees, reducing fuel loads, and establishing firebreaks and control lines, with funding allocated for specific and additional treatments at military installations.
