The Dominican Republic has unveiled its first locally assembled armored military vehicle, the VBD-1, during a ceremony with President Luis Abinader and Defense Minister Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre. Designed to enhance national defense and reduce reliance on foreign suppliers, the VBD-1 features advanced ballistic protection and can transport 11 soldiers, with plans for additional models in the pipeline. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the Dominican Military Industry as a state-owned public company.
