The Department of War's Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing (ATDM) project in Danville, Virginia, celebrated its 1,000th graduate on July 31, 2025. With $104 million in funding, the program trains adult learners for defense manufacturing careers in just four months, addressing workforce shortages in the submarine industrial base.

Since its inception in Fiscal Year 2020, ATDM has partnered with the U.S. Navy and the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research to enhance skills in critical manufacturing areas.
