DRDO Chairman Dr. Samir V Kamat announced the establishment of five new laboratories and 15 centres focused on underwater and space awareness during a convocation at SRM University-A.P. on February 14, 2026. The initiative aligns with India's Atmanirbhar Bharat strategy, aiming to enhance self-reliance in defense technologies and bolster national capabilities in anti-submarine warfare and space-based intelligence.
