Duravit Opens First North American Manufacturing Facility in Matane, Canada

Duravit has officially opened its first North American manufacturing facility in Matane, Canada, marking a significant milestone in the sanitary industry. The plant utilizes electric kilns powered by renewable hydropower, representing a shift towards lower carbon ceramic production.

The facility, covering 35,000 square meters, is designed to produce up to 450,000 sinks, toilets, and ceramic pieces annually, with an investment of over CAD 90 million and plans to increase employment from 102 to 240 by 2027. The location on the St.

Lawrence River facilitates efficient transport and reduces CO2 emissions by approximately 9,000 tons annually. Economic Development Canada and Investissement Québec provided financial support for the project. Duravit aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2045 while maintaining a commitment to sustainable design and craftsmanship.
