Dutch Parliament Approves Plan to Reduce Military Imports from Israel
DEFENSE
The Dutch parliament has approved a plan to lessen military and security imports from Israel, citing ethical concerns over Israel's human rights record. The decision, supported by two coalition parties, mandates that the government report to parliament on efforts to reduce such imports.
Over recent years, the Netherlands has spent around two billion euros on Israeli military equipment. The initiative aims to enhance the Netherlands' strategic autonomy in defense, distancing itself from suppliers linked to violence against civilians.
