Energy Development Corporation (EDC) is set to implement significant upgrades to its geothermal power facilities in Leyte, Philippines, drawing inspiration from California's Geysers plants. The initiative aims to enhance efficiency, extend plant life, and ensure sustainable operations, with a focus on steamfield facilities supplying three plants.

Upgrades will include advanced technologies such as wellhead washing systems and electrical submersible pumps. EDC anticipates that these improvements will keep the Tongonan facility operational until at least 2046 while also planning upgrades for its other geothermal stations.
