Environmental Groups Revive Lawsuit Against Alaska Oil and Gas Leasing Plan

Environmental groups are reviving their lawsuit against the Interior Department's plan to lease nearly all of Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge coastal plain for oil and gas drilling. The Natural Resources Defense Council, Center for Biological Diversity, and Friends of the Earth filed an amended complaint, arguing that the leasing program violates environmental laws. The Interior Department had announced its intention to reinstate the leasing program in October.
