EPA Allocates €6.5m for 24 Research Projects Focused on Climate and Environment in Ireland

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded €6.5 million to 24 research projects in Ireland as part of its 2025 research call, with the University of Galway receiving the highest number of awards. Projects include peatland restoration, methane source studies, and flood probability research, co-funded by Met Éireann and the Office of Public Works. The funding aims to address knowledge gaps in environmental policy and support 148 research staff across 10 institutions, with collaboration from 34 organizations in three countries.
