Rep. Dave Min's request for $1 million for the San Gabriel River Trash initiative has been approved by the EPA. Seal Beach Council Member Joe Kalmick announced the funding, which will support the design of additional trash mitigation measures identified in a feasibility study.

The primary trash capture device will be provided by The Ocean Cleanup. The project requires various federal, state, and local permits and aims to reduce over 500 tons of river trash collected annually on Seal Beach.
