The European Commission is proposing a Cybersecurity Package aimed at phasing out high-risk suppliers, notably Huawei and ZTE, from critical infrastructure across 18 sectors, including 5G networks and medical devices. Operators will have 36 months to remove identified components, while the initiative seeks to enhance digital security and reduce dependencies within the EU. The package also includes measures to strengthen the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity and establish a new cybersecurity certification framework, with formal negotiations set to follow.
