Exergy International has launched the Gemini Turbine, a new Radial Outflow Turbine (ROT) capable of generating up to 60 MWe from a single shaft, designed to enhance efficiency in large-scale geothermal power generation. With a dual-inlet design and isentropic efficiency exceeding 90%, the turbine offers a compact alternative to multi-turbine setups, promising a 30% reduction in power plant costs. As investments in advanced geothermal technologies approach US$2 billion in 2024, global geothermal capacity is expected to surpass 800 GW by 2050, contributing approximately 8% of the world's electricity.
