FAA Makes Temporary Airspace Rules Permanent After Deadly Airliner and Helicopter Collision
DEFENSE
The FAA has made permanent the temporary safety rules established after the deadly January 29 collision between an airliner and an Army helicopter near Washington D.C., which prohibits aircraft from sharing airspace around Reagan National Airport and mandates military aircraft to broadcast their locations. The NTSB will hold a hearing to examine the crash factors, while families of the victims are pushing for legislative action on safety recommendations. The new regulations, effective Friday, also require military aircraft to utilize ADS-B Out systems.
