Fairbanks North Star Borough Approves Tax Incentive for New Housing Development

DEFENSE

The Fairbanks North Star Borough has approved a tax incentive for new housing aimed at addressing local housing shortages and accommodating incoming military personnel. Proposed by Mayor Grier Hopkins, the incentive will last three years and provide property value exemptions for new units, dependent on unit count and bedrooms.

Eligible properties must be in Fairbanks or North Pole, within military zones or suitable for high-density development. Recent amendments allow connections to water holding tanks or wells.
