Fort Monroe Authority Faces $200,000 Utility Bill Increase Amid Rising Costs
NATURAL GAS
The Fort Monroe Authority reports a $217,000 increase in utility costs, primarily due to a 17% rise in rates from Dominion Energy. The increase has been attributed to leaky pipes and heightened natural gas and electricity prices.
Despite efforts to manage finances, including delaying projects, the financial strain remains significant. Virginia residents are also experiencing higher utility bills, with an average increase of $11.24 approved by the Virginia State Corporation Commission. Dominion Energy anticipates residential rates will rise approximately 2.6% annually until 2050.
