Gainesville Regional Utilities to Increase Electric Bills by $5 Due to Fuel Adjustment
NATURAL GAS
Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU) will raise its fuel adjustment for electric customers from 35 mills to 40 mills per month starting January, resulting in an additional $5 charge for those using 1,000 kilowatt-hours. This increase, driven by rising natural gas prices due to cold weather, is intended solely to cover costs without profit for GRU. To mitigate future price hikes, GRU is exploring long-term, pre-paid fuel contracts and diversifying its fuel sources.
