Gazprom has commenced natural gas production at the Shakhpakhty field in Uzbekistan under a Production Sharing Agreement. Full production capacity is expected to reach approximately 500 million cubic meters per year by 2006.

An investment of $12 million is planned for this year, with a total of $15 million allocated for field development from 2004 to 2007. The Shakhpakhty field, developed since the 1970s, had previously halted production in February 2002 due to equipment issues.
