General Dynamics Advances MEDUSA Mine Warfare Drone for U.S. Navy Submarines
DEFENSE
General Dynamics is advancing the Mining Expendable Delivery Unmanned Submarine Asset (MEDUSA), an unmanned underwater vehicle designed for offensive mine warfare capabilities for U.S. Navy submarines.
Following successful test trials in Massachusetts, the company is set to produce four prototypes in 2024, addressing the need for enhanced underwater capabilities amid increasing competition from the People's Liberation Army Navy. The U.S. Navy's fiscal year 2026 budget includes plans for integrating unmanned assets and new torpedo delivery systems aboard attack submarines.
