Georgia's Electricity Tariffs Expected to Rise in 2026, GNERC Confirms
The Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC) announced that electricity tariffs for consumers in Georgia are likely to increase starting in 2026. A final decision on the extent of the increase will be revealed during a commission session on December 29, 2025.
GNERC is currently reviewing electricity and natural gas tariffs; while electricity prices are expected to rise, natural gas tariffs are not anticipated to increase substantially, with only a minor technical adjustment possible. The regulator's review process includes audits of electricity companies, evaluations of new investment projects, and assessments of costs tied to older infrastructure. Although the exact percentage of the electricity tariff increase has not been disclosed, GNERC advised consumers to prepare for higher charges in 2026.
