Germany Considers State Guarantees for LNG Imports from Argentina
NATURAL GAS
The German government is evaluating state guarantees to support LNG imports from Argentina, specifically related to a project in Rio Negro province. The guarantees are intended for unbound financial loans, primarily for foreign resource projects.
A partnership is likely with Sefe and Southern Energy for LNG supply starting from 2027, amounting to up to two million tons annually. The gas will be sourced from Vaca Muerta and shipped via two floating terminals. The proposal's viability is debated, especially concerning its alignment with climate goals.
