Germany Orders 20 Additional H145M Helicopters, Totaling 82 Units
Germany has exercised an option to order 20 more H145M light combat helicopters, increasing its total to 82. This decision follows a contract signed in December 2023, with the first helicopter delivered in November 2024.
The H145M is utilized for training, reconnaissance, special forces operations, and light attack missions. The German Army will receive 72 helicopters, while the Luftwaffe's special forces will obtain ten.
The H145M features rapid reconfiguration capabilities, ballistic and guided weapons, and advanced avionics. The global fleet of the H145 family has over eight million flight hours, with operators including the US Army, Hungary, Belgium, and Ireland. The helicopter is powered by twin Safran Arriel 2E engines and is noted for its low acoustic footprint.
