Germany's Gas Storage at 25%: Triggering Emergency Plan and Alarm Level
NATURAL GAS
Germany's gas storage levels are projected to drop below 25% by February 13, 2026. The LNG terminal Mukran has reopened after a week of blockage. The country has an emergency gas plan with three escalation levels: early warning, alarm, and emergency.
The alarm level is declared during significant supply disruptions or high demand, and it is primarily a political decision by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). Market participants manage the situation without state intervention.
