Gitanyow hereditary chiefs are opposing the Prince Rupert Gas Transmission and Ksi Lisims LNG projects in British Columbia, urging banks to refrain from financing them due to concerns over territory rights and environmental impacts. A letter supported by over 125 organizations was sent to 43 financial institutions highlighting financial risks and the potential harm to salmon habitats. Additionally, the Lax Kw'alaams and Metlakatla communities have filed legal challenges, while the Haida Nation has expressed concerns about increased tanker traffic.
