Highway expansion projects in Goa are facing a 16-month delay due to the need to shift gas pipelines, as noted by the chief engineer of the Union highways ministry during a project review. Over Rs 700 crore has been allocated for two major projects, including a 6.6 km stretch from the Zuari bridge to the Margao bypass and a 9.9 km stretch from Ponda to Bhoma. The Union ministry has directed state PWD officials to coordinate the relocation of the Indian Oil Adani Gas Ltd and Goa Natural Gas pipelines before resuming highway work.
