Goyang City Completes Solar Power Plant at KINTEX with 256 kW Capacity
Goyang Special City has finished constructing a 256 kW eco-friendly solar power plant on the rooftop of KINTEX Exhibition Center 1, set to commence operations in January 2026. The project, funded with approximately 1 billion KRW from the city, is expected to produce 330,000 KWh of electricity annually, generating around 70 million KRW in annual revenue.
It is also projected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 50 tons per year, equivalent to planting 10,000 pine trees. The city plans to expand the solar facility, securing a total of 2.6 billion KRW, including 1.1 billion KRW from the national government, for additional solar modules and a geothermal heat pump system.
This expansion aims to save approximately 50 million KRW in yearly electricity costs. A promotional kiosk featuring the character 'Haetsal-i' has also been installed in the KINTEX lobby to engage visitors.
