The GSE (Gestore Servizi Energetici) celebrated its 20th anniversary at the Waldorf Astoria in Monte Mario. Established on November 1, 2005, as a public company owned by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, GSE highlighted its achievements for 2025, including a financial allocation of €16 billion and €4.5 billion from the PNRR.

The energy transition in Italy saw a significant shift with renewable energy production matching that of gas turbines in 2024, although dependency on imports remains at 18%. By October 2025, Italy surpassed 81 GW of installed renewable capacity and over 2 million operational photovoltaic systems.

The demand for electricity is expected to rise due to electrification trends. GSE aims to support citizens and businesses with access to incentives and promote energy efficiency and self-consumption. The 'Energy Release' initiative targets energy-intensive industries with low-cost energy, while recent incentive mechanisms aim to alleviate pressure on consumer bills. GSE plans seven initiatives for efficiency improvements leading to 2026.
