Gyeongnam Province has launched the 'Gyeongnam-type Naval MRO Cluster' to capture a share of the US Navy's naval MRO market, aiming to leverage projected defense exports of $13.3 billion by 2025. The initiative will involve a KRW 99 billion investment from 2026 to 2030 to enhance small and medium-sized shipyards through certifications and workforce training, positioning Gyeongnam as a key defense hub in the Asia-Pacific region.
