Ho Nieh Appointed 20th Chairman of the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission
DEFENSEFUSION & ADVANCED NUCLEAR POWER
President Donald Trump appointed Ho Nieh as the 20th Chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), succeeding David Wright and solidifying a Republican majority on the commission. Nieh, who joined the NRC as a commissioner in December, aims to streamline the approval process for advanced nuclear technologies while addressing significant staff turnover within the agency. New guidance has also been issued to enhance collaboration between the NRC and vendors using Department of Energy or Department of Defense authorizations for reactor designs.
