Hydro Power Plants Provide 45% of Nigeria's Electricity Amid Gas Supply Crisis
HYDRO POWER
Four hydro power plants and one steam plant contributed significantly to Nigeria's electricity supply, averaging 2,022.3 MW from February 1 to 21, which is 45% of the total generation. Kainji, Egbin, Jebba, Zungeru, and Shiroro were the key contributors. The electricity distribution companies have warned of continued outages due to gas supply shortages, which are exacerbated by a growing debt of N6.5 trillion owed by the government to power generation companies.
