ICG Ship Sarthak Completes First-Ever Port Call at Iran's Chabahar
The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Ship Sarthak, an Offshore Patrol Vessel, made its inaugural visit to Chabahar port in Iran on December 16, 2025, and will remain until December 19. This visit signifies India's expanding maritime engagement in the region and its capability to secure supply lines to Afghanistan and Central Asia, in line with India's SAGAR and MAHASAGAR initiatives.
During its stay, the ship will participate in various professional and community activities with the Iranian Navy, including joint training in maritime search and rescue, law enforcement, and pollution response. Key activities include a marine pollution response demonstration and MRCC coordination drills.
The visit also features sports events and a beach walkathon to promote marine environmental awareness. The port call follows Sarthak's recent interactions with the Kuwait Coast Guard, highlighting ICG's commitment to fostering regional maritime cooperation.
