III Marine Expeditionary Force Enhances Readiness and Capabilities in Indo-Pacific During 2025

In 2025, III Marine Expeditionary Force (III MEF) demonstrated enhanced readiness and crisis response capabilities in the Indo-Pacific. Key activities included the Resolute Dragon 25 exercise with the Japan Self-Defense Force (JSDF), involving 5,200 U.S.

Marines and 14,000 JSDF members, focusing on Expeditionary Advanced Basing Operations (EABO). III MEF also participated in Japan Exercise 07, conducting humanitarian assistance alongside the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force.

The 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) executed rapid deployments across the Pacific, including anti-submarine operations. Throughout the year, III MEF modernized its forces, adopting advanced technologies like automated 3D concrete printing and enhancing cyber capabilities. The Marines fostered strong alliances through joint exercises with the Republic of Korea and reinforced commitment to regional stability and deterrence.
