IIIT Dharwad to Launch India's First Commercial Quantum Computer in Collaboration with QpiAI

The Indian Institute of Information Technology, Dharwad (IIIT-D) is set to launch India's first commercial quantum computer in collaboration with Bengaluru-based startup QpiAI, following a Memorandum of Understanding signed in July 2025. Karnataka's IT/BT Minister Priyank Kharge highlighted the government's dedication to advancing the state's quantum roadmap, which includes a Rs 1,000 crore budget for supporting startups and quantum skills development. QpiAI plans to expand its quantum computing capacity from 25 qubits to 1,000 qubits over the next two to three years.
