Select Illinois community colleges can now apply for $24 million in grants to establish advanced manufacturing training facilities, focusing on high-demand sectors such as food processing and quantum computing. The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity plans to fund six manufacturing training academies with grants ranging from $3 million to $6 million, excluding colleges in Cook and collar counties. A technical assistance session for applicants is set for January 28.
