India Completes Successful Ground Test of Hypersonic Scramjet Engine

India's Defence Research & Development Laboratory successfully conducted a 12-minute ground test of its Actively Cooled Scramjet Full-Scale Combustor in Hyderabad, validating its performance for future hypersonic missile systems targeting speeds above Mach 5. This achievement is part of India's broader hypersonic missile development program, which includes the Extended Trajectory Long Duration Hypersonic Cruise Missile capable of reaching Mach 8, underscoring the nation's advancements in defense technology and self-reliance. Additionally, India is working with General Electric on technology transfer for the F-414 engine to address challenges in developing reliable fighter jet engines.
