India Signs ₹4,666 Crore Deals for CQB Carbines and Heavyweight Torpedoes

The Indian Defence Ministry has finalized contracts worth ₹4,666 crore for over 425,000 close-quarter battle carbines and 48 heavyweight torpedoes, enhancing military capabilities. Bharat Forge Ltd and PLR Systems will supply the carbines, expected within two years, while WASS Submarine Systems of Italy will deliver the torpedoes for integration into Kalvari-class submarines between 2028 and 2030. These acquisitions aim to bolster the operational readiness of the Indian Navy and support the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' initiative.
