Indian Army Installs Indo-Israeli TIFCS on 96 T-72 Tanks After Successful Trials

DEFENSE

The Indian Army has installed Thermal Imaging Fire Control Systems (TIFCS), developed through an Indo-Israeli collaboration, on 96 T-72 tanks after successful validation trials. The upgrade, aimed at enhancing night-fighting capabilities, was executed by Alpha-Elsec Defence & Aerospace Systems, a joint venture between Alpha Design and Elbit Systems.

The contract for the systems was signed in 2023, with manufacturing conducted in India. The initiative aligns with the Make-in-India programme and is expected to increase Alpha-Elsec's order book for indigenous defence supplies.
