The Indian Army has placed orders exceeding ₹5,000 crore for indigenous drones after conducting trials simulating conditions from Op Sindoor. These orders, issued under emergency procurement powers, include various unmanned systems for kamikaze strikes, precision munitions delivery, and reconnaissance.

A rigorous three-tier selection process was undertaken, emphasizing the capability to operate in heavy jamming and spoofing environments. Notably, Munitions India Limited secured contracts worth approximately ₹500 crore for loitering munitions.

In the private sector, NewSpace Research & Technologies and SMPP Pvt Ltd have won nearly ₹725 crore in orders for surveillance and kamikaze drones. Other shortlisted suppliers include ideaForge for surveillance drones and JSW for vertical take-off and landing systems, with additional contracts nearing finalization.
