Indian Army Plans to Establish Four Integrated Battle Groups in Eastern Theatre
DEFENSE
The Indian Army is set to establish four Integrated Battle Groups (IBGs) within the XVII Corps, aimed at enhancing operational capabilities in mountainous terrains facing China. Each IBG, commanded by a Major General and consisting of over 5,000 troops, will streamline command by eliminating brigade commanders and is designed for rapid deployment. This initiative is part of a broader restructuring effort and is pending government approval, with logistics support drawn from existing corps units.
