India's Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated a Medium Caliber Ammunition Manufacturing Facility in Nagpur on January 19, 2026, aimed at producing 30mm ammunition for the armed forces. The government is pushing for increased private sector involvement in defence manufacturing, which has seen domestic production rise significantly from ₹46,425 crore in 2014 to approximately ₹1.51 lakh crore today. Defence exports have also surged, growing from under ₹1,000 crore a decade ago to ₹24,000 crore, underscoring India's commitment to self-reliance in the sector.
