An ATR 42-500 aircraft operated by Indonesia Air Transport went missing on January 17, 2026, during a flight from Yogyakarta to Makassar, with wreckage found on Bulusaraung Peak in South Sulawesi. This incident marks the first plane crash of 2026 in Indonesia, following several other fatal aviation accidents in recent years, including a Microlight crash in Bogor and a Tecnam P2006T crash in Serpong.
