Indonesia's Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, announced significant regulatory reforms aimed at attracting investment in the geothermal sector during the Indonesia International Geothermal Convention & Exhibition 2025. With a geothermal capacity of 2,744 megawatts, the country ranks second globally, trailing only the U.S.
Lahadalia highlighted plans to enhance this capacity and launched a digital platform for geothermal management. The government aims to foster international collaborations and position Indonesia as a leader in renewable energy, leveraging its vast geothermal potential.
