IonQ and ID Quantique Launch Quantum-Resistant Network in Switzerland with Cisco
IonQ and its subsidiary ID Quantique announced the completion of a significant cybersecurity upgrade in Switzerland, in collaboration with Cisco. This upgrade establishes a quantum-resistant connection between two data centers using Cisco's Secure Key Integration Protocol (SKIP) and IDQ's Solteris Network Appliance.
The project, supported by the Canton of Geneva, aims to protect critical infrastructure from modern cybersecurity threats posed by quantum computing. The Cisco Nexus 9000 Series switches have been updated to support quantum-resistant security, integrating quantum SKIP capabilities with IDQ's innovative QKD solution.
The Solteris solution includes a NIST-certified quantum random number generator for implementing post-quantum cryptography. This initiative is a crucial step towards establishing a national post-quantum infrastructure in Switzerland.
